ABOUT THE ARTIST

Troy Moth was born in a remote tree-planting camp on the west coast of Canada and spent the first few years of life in a tent guarded by large dogs. He loved the wild and abundant nature he grew up immersed in, but eventually the call to adventure became too much and he moved, first across Canada to the big city (Toronto), then across the world to India, to pursue a career in photography.

Troy has worked for numerous commercial and editorial clients, including Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Rolling Stone, GQ and many others. But he's never forgotten his roots, so with a career in fashion now behind him, he's focusing instead on his art, and living, once again, deep in a forest on the west coast of Canada.

"I've always been fascinated by fire: I find I can reach my greatest inner peace when sitting near a campfire. But it's the morning after a night outdoors, when I return to the charred remains of what had previously been a bright and welcoming light, that I'm most curious about. To me, the pieces lying there, burnt and alone and dead on the ground, hold stories -- each piece with its own unique and tiny narrative.

"I decided to start gathering those remains to see if by documenting them I could find a way to convey that same impression to a viewer. I'm calling the result Burnt, and I guess you could say Burnt Piece - 01 is kind of the linchpin to the series -- my favorite piece from the study."

ABOUT THE PRINT

This print is made in-house using archival pigment inks on heavyweight semi-gloss archival paper. Each print is custom-trimmed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Edition dimensions reflect actual paper sizes, not the printed image itself. While we try to maximize image size on all prints, a minimum border of .5 inches is left to allow for easy framing.
